Free LSAT Practice Test
Saturday, February 20th - 9:30am
Sponsored by Kaplan Test Prep, a free actual practice LSAT will be administered and all participants will receive a detailed analysis of his or her performance on the exam, including a breakdown of your performance by section and question type, along with explanations of right and wrong answers for every question.


Kaplan Test Prep Voucher Auction
From February 22nd to March 1st Tufts Pre-Law Society will be auctioning off a Kaplan Test Prep Voucher that can be reimbursed for a class at any Test Prep Center in the United States for LSAT, MCAT, GMAT, GRE, DAT, PCAT, or SAT. The highest current bid will be updated multiple times each day on our website, facebook, and twitter accounts. Any student can place bids for the voucher by emailing their bid to tuprelawsociety@tufts.edu. The bid will start at $600. After March 1st, the Tufts Pre-Law Society will contact the highest bidder and he or she will recieve the Kaplan class voucher. The bidder may pay by either cash or personal check.


Testmaster Sample Class
Tuesday, February 23rd - 9:00PM - Miner Hall Room 112
A representative from TestMasters will be providing Tufts students a sneak preview of what their courses offer and some tips and tricks for law school admissions! They will also go over one difficult logical reasoning question and offer students who answer correctly a chance to get $725 off of a course. Don't miss this great opportunity to learn some TestMaster's techniques and save big!


Boston Intercollegiate PreLaw Ice Cream Social
Wednesday, February 24th - 8:00pm - Boston University Photonics Center Room 901, located at 8 Saint Mary's Street
The second Boston-Area Intercollegiate Pre-Law Social will include students from Harvard College, Tufts University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wellesley College, Northeastern University, and Boston University. Additionally, the Boston University executive board has invited admissions representatives and current law students from the local Boston-area law schools, such as Boston University, Harvard, Northeastern University, and New England Law School, to come socialize with the pre-law students. Due to the potential size and nature of this event, each school will be limited to no more than 15 students to the event and business casual attire will be required. Food and refreshments will be served.

General Interest Meeting
On Tuesday October 6th 9:00 pm in Braker Hall 113 the Tufts PLS held a general interest meeting for all Tufts undergraduate students to learn more about PLS and how they can get involved.


How to Get Into the Top Law Schools
On Tuesday November 3rd 7:30pm in Olin 122, Richard Montauk, author of "How to Get into the Top Law Schools" came to Tufts to give a strategic overview of the law school admissions process. Mr. Montauk is a provocative and engaging speaker, who challenges traditional notions about attending law school, the flexibility of a J.D. degree, and the qualities most sought after by the top law schools.


Office Hours with Lee Gelernt (ACLU)
On Wednesday November 18th 3:30-4:30pm in the Campus Center Room 220, Lee Gelernt A'84, Deputy Director of the Immigrant's Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union, held office hours to talk with students interested in pursuing law. As someone with years of experience in working for human rights, civil liberties and legal issues, Mr. Gelernt spoke about getting from Tufts to law school, the ACLU, and careers in civil liberties and as a public defender.


Guantanamo Bay, Immigration, and Civil Liberties
Also on Wednesday November 18th 7:00 pm, in Braker 001 Lee Gelernt A'84 came to talk about Guantanamo Bay, Immigration, and Civil Liberties. As a human rights observer for its first military trial, he discussed his visit to Guantanamo Bay, his work in the ACLU post 9/11 and about representing immigrants and high profile unpopular clients.


  

From Pre-Law to Post Law
This event will be held on Monday December 7th at 6:00pm in the Sophia Gordon Hall Multi-Purpose Room. All students interested in law are welcome to attend the event which will feature two Tufts alums who will be speaking about their legal careers and prelaw paths. One of the speakers, Philip Swain, is a partner at Foley Hoag LLC, working in patent litigation. He has had a legal career working with copyright and trademark infringement as well as trade secret misappropriation and unfair competition cases. The second speaker, Stephen Viegas, is a private practitioner in Reading, MA specializing in family law. Refreshments will be provided.

Law Day on the Hill
On Friday March 6th in the Alumnae Lounge, an annual panel of lawyers and law students gave students an up-close-and-personal look at the legal profession.

General Interest Meeting
On Wednesday September 24 9:00pm Lane Hall, the Tufts PLS held a general interest meeting for new members to learn more about the group.


Personal Statement Seminar
On Thursday October 23, 7:00-8:00pm in Eaton Hall 202 a representative from Kaplan gave studenst an opportunity to hear professional tips on writing the law school personal statement. Tips were given on what works for a compelling application essay, how to be memorable from start to finish, how to be personal, etc.


Careers in Law 1
On Thursday November 6th 8:00 pm in Eaton Hall 202, CEO Chris Marston of Exemplar Law Firm came to speak of his career in law. As the CEO of a non-traditional law firm, he created a firm that abandoned the traditional law practice and billable hours, focusing on the value of services provided, rather than the cost of one's time.
