Undergraduate The Tufts Philosophy Department offers both a major and a minor in philosophy.

Senior thesis students please note:

Research 4 Success: Using the Library for Thesis and Capstone Projects: Tisch Library actively supports senior honors thesis research. Students are encouraged to meet with librarians individually in order to gain an increased awareness of relevant library resources, and learn how to use them as efficiently and effectively as possible. In addition, they offer an 8-week mini-course, Research 4 Success: Using the Library for Thesis and Capstone Projects. Reference librarians, along with guest speakers, teach this credit, pass/fail course during which you will be introduced to the major research tools and search techniques specific to your subject area. The department also offers a certificate program in "Ethics, Law and Society".

Profs. Daniel Dennett and Ray Jackendoff serve as two of the Co-Directors for the Interdisciplinary Program in Cognitive and Brain Sciences. The minor in Cognitive and Brain Sciences is administered by the Department of Philosophy; the major in Cognitive and Brain Sciences is administered by the Department of Psychology.

Prof. Nancy Bauer is a university advisory board member for the Communications and Media Studies Program.

Graduate The department administers a Master of Arts program that is widely acclaimed within the philosophical community -- e.g.: "Among terminal M.A. programs, the top program in the country (in terms of faculty quality) is Tufts University" (The Philosophical Gourmet Report).

Many past graduate comprehensive examinations and study questions are now online, in electronic versions.
