Department Faculty Member, Linda Beardsley and Department Staff, Pearl Emmons, recently visited the Marayundo School in Nyamata, Rwanda to work with teachers on building student-centered teaching strategies that include bringing technology and video into the classroom. Please visit their blog.

Academic Technology
The Tufts Department of Education Media Center continues a strong collaboration with Academic Technology in the development of Digital Tools for our department. Along with the Digital Toolbox e-portfolio, we are exploring platforms for Blended Learning and Distance Education as well as live online learning platforms.

CELT
The Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching at Tufts is collaborating with the Media Center to create a series of video features on best practices of Teaching at Tufts. Classrooms across the campus will be captured along with Student and Faculty seminars.

Gulf of Maine Institute
Funded by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, GOMI and the Department of Education Media Center are involved in a multi-media collaborative project to help K-12 students from Massachusetts and New Hampshire share and post their work using digital tools. Students will document their environmental preservation projects in the field with Flip cameras and post results on a shared wiki that will also include classroom curriculum support.

Making Freedom: Teaching American History Project
The Media Center is one of several partners in a project initiated by the Burlington School District to help Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers connect with traditional American history themes of immigration, protest, war, and interactions with the wider world. In addition to working with scholars and primary source materials, the media center is helping to integrate technology into the classroom.
