Pan-African Alliance's Annual Block Solidarity Day
Time: 11-1pm
Location: Campus Center Lower Patio
Sponsored by: Pan-African Alliance Board

What is Black Solidarity Day?
Originated in 1969, Black Solidarity Day is an annual event that is held the day before national elections. With the intent of demonstrating the power that African and Black Americans have as a people when they stand unified in solidarity against injustice, the day calls for us to reexamine our ties and alliances to one another and other communities. Marked by the political, social and economic consequences that would ensue were we to not participate in the American system for one day, the day also encourages us as members of the Black and African-American communities to abstain from making grandiose purchases, so that our collective presence may be felt across the country. In doing so, we peacefully oppose racism, social and civil injustice while forcing a recalcitrant society to address the issues affecting our community. Please come out in all black or Pan-African colors of Green and red) and support PAA and this day, TUFTS day of BLACK SOLDARITY. Keynote Address by, Dr. Peniel Joseph, Professor of History African American, Race Relations, Intellectual History, Civil Rights and Black Power. For more info see the Facebook page.
